The candidate who has acquired ECTS in the following scientific disciplinary areas below meets the curricular requirements:
- SSD Group 1 [MAT/02], [MAT/03], [MAT/05], [MAT/06], [MAT/07], [MAT/08], [MAT/09], [SECS-S/02] at least 36,
- SSD Group 2 [FIS/01], [FIS/03], [ING-INF/01], [CHIM/07], [ING-IND/21], [ING-IND/22] at least 30,
- SSD Group 3 [ING-IND/15] at least 6,
- SSD Group 4 [ING-IND/04], [ING-IND/05], [ING-IND/06], [ING-IND/07] at least 36,
- SSD Group 5 [ICAR/08] at least 12,
For a total of 120 ECTS credits.
Students are also required to demonstrate knowledge of the English language at a level not lower than B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). These competencies are subject to verification; students who present an appropriate language certificate may be exempted from the assessment.
In all cases, an assessment of the student’s academic preparation is required; the procedures for this assessment may be specified in the Degree Programme Regulations.
An Internal Evaluation Committee (CIV committee) evaluates the application for admission and the corresponding documentation. Specifically, the CIV, composed of two or more faculty members, is responsible for:
- Review applications for admission,
- Evaluate the curricula of candidates,
- Verify the fulfillment of curricular and personal requirements, including English language requirement,
- Recommend to the Degree Programme Board whether the candidate should be admitted or not,
- Indicate the procedures required to fulfil missing curricular requirements.
The Degree Programme Board has resolved (minutes of the meeting of 17/05/2012 and Resolution No. 10 of 09/12/2014) that all candidates holding a Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering obtained in Italy (at a University or Polytechnic), be admitted to the Master’s Degree Programme in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Pisa without any additional academic requirements.
Finally, candidates who have obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in the L-9 Industrial Engineering class with a weighted average grade of 22/30 or higher are also admitted.
All other candidates, namely those who hold a Bachelor’s Degree in the L-9 Industrial Engineering class but do not meet the above requirement, those holding any other type of Bachelor’s Degree or three-year university diploma, and those with a qualification obtained abroad, are evaluated by the CIV, with particular reference to the courses included in Groups 1, 2, and 4 defined in the curricular requirements.
In accordance with the University Academic Regulations, the CIV:
may propose to the Degree Programme Board that the candidate’s application for admission be accepted or rejected, on the basis of the documentation submitted with the admission request,
may propose to the Degree Programme Board that the candidate be referred to an admission interview, indicating the programme on which the interview will be based, in accordance with the procedure described below.
The admission interview, if required, is intended to verify that the candidate possesses the preparation necessary to successfully undertake the Master’s Degree studies. Admission interviews are held in at least two sessions during the academic year. The candidate is assigned, by decision of the Chair of the Degree Programme Board, a specific examination committee composed of two or more faculty members. The interview syllabus, identified by the CIV, will be communicated to the candidate in advance by the Chair of the Degree Programme Board. At the end of the interview, the examination committee issues a final judgement of suitability or non-suitability for admission, possibly indicating any missing requirements.
IIn the case of candidates holding a qualification obtained abroad, the CIV assesses the curricular requirements on the basis of the duration of the individual courses and the syllabi of the corresponding examinations.
